Reckless Rockaway DWI Driver Busted After Crash: Denville PD
A 24-year-old Rockaway Township man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Denville, authorities announced Monday, Aug. 4, authorities said. On Saturday, Aug. 2 at 10:26 p.m., officers responded to a crash on Old Beach Glen Road and determined the driver, Henilkumar Patel, was operating the vehicle while intoxicated, Denville police said. Patel is charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and careless driving, police said. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.

A 35-year-old Morris County high school teacher has been arrested on accusations she sexually assaulted a 17-year-old child she'd been tutoring, officials said. Woman Airlifted In Route 80 Crash:

A woman had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital after a crash on Route 80, the early morning of Monday, Oct. 28, state police said. At 2:56 a.m., a Madza SUV was traveling westbound on Route 80 in Rockaway Township when it entered the right shoulder and crashed into the back of an unoccupied truck, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver, a 28-year-old Kenvil woman, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Firefighters are working to contain a 77-acre wildfire in Morris County this weekend. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service said that 30% of the fire along Jacobs Road in Rockaway Township had been contained as of Sunday morning, Oct. 20. A crash involving two tractor-trailers and two passenger vehicles closed a portion of Route 80 early Wednesday, Aug. 21, police said. Troopers responded to the crash in the eastbound lanes at milepost 37.6 in Rockaway Township around 8:15 a.m., Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Minor injuries were reported and the crash remains under investigation.

Two trucks and a car collided in a three-car crash on Thursday, April 11 on Route 80 in Morris County, causing one of the trucks to overturn, authorities said. At 1:58 p.m., a Freightliner tractor-trailer, a Subaru passenger vehicle and an Isuzu box truck were traveling westbound on Route 80 in Rockaway Township when they collided, causing the Isuzu to overturn, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver of the Subaru sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.
